1 - Soft drinks and pancreatic cancer: "87%" increased risk, which sounds like a lot, but it means multiplying a thankfully low number by 1.87: not a huge risk increase, but across the population may be accounting for hundreds of cases given the ubiquity of soft drink consumption.

New osteoporosis pill gets nod from FDA panel

New Serm gets FDA Panel Approval http://www.obgynnews.com/article/PIIS0029743708706359/fulltext As reported in the most recent issue of Ob/Gyn News.  Lasofoxifene received a 9-3 for vote and 1 abstention vote on its use for treatment of osteoporosis.  However the panel supported the use of this new SERM for populations that are at high risk of fractures but for whatever reasons are not candidates for bisphosphonates therapy.
